Our Coil on Plug (CoP) kit is an aftermarket upgrade that allows you to install ignition coils directly on top of the spark plug. While the M42 and M44 engines use multiple individual coils (albeit on later engines in a single coil pack), all other BMW engines of this and future generations utilise a factory COP solution. All our CoP plates are precision cut and feature a threaded insert for each individual coil mount. Due to popular demand, our CoP plate now comes complete with the loom plug bracket.
Installing a CoP conversion gives your car a cleaner, simpler engine bay that allows more access room and helps to create space to fit a turbo charger or similar. It also eliminates lengthy and unsightly spark plug wires, and removes multiple points of failure in the ignition system. Many owners report improved throttle response and a smoother idle.

This kit does not include the 4 ignition coils. The BMW part number for these coils is 1 748 017 and can be sourced either new or used on eBay from around £5 each.
